Seats for children, people with disabilities, and animals: The Kyiv Metro is testing seating arrangements during emergencies

This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.

Navigation stickers have been placed on the platform to indicate where different categories of passengers are recommended to stand:

• people with children,
• people with limited mobility,
• passengers with animals,
• and those who need a seat.

The zoning is advisory in nature and relies on everyone’s responsible use of the shared space. It does not mean that metro staff will move people between zones. Its effectiveness depends on passengers’ willingness to follow the recommendations.

Similar solutions are currently being developed for other stations. Further updates on the results of the pilot project will be provided.

As a reminder, the Kyiv City State Administration denied reports that metro stations were closed during the air raid alert. The administration also estimated that more than 56,000 people took shelter in the metro from Russian missiles that night.
