Protests in support of Fedorov: large-scale march takes place in Kyiv and other cities

Mass protests in support of Mykhailo Fedorov are breaking out in most Ukrainian cities.

Participants gathered near the Taras Shevchenko monument in the park of the same name. From there, the column walked through the central streets of the capital to Ivan Franko Square, located near the President's Office.

The rally, held under the slogan “For Dialogue and Reforms in the Defense Sector,” was announced by veteran Dmytro Koziatynskyi—one of the organizers of previous protests against Fedorov’s dismissal. The organizers are calling on the authorities to explain the reasons behind the personnel decisions and to ensure that reforms in the defense management and procurement systems continue.

Kozyatynsky previously stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s latest explanations regarding the government reshuffle did not answer the protesters’ questions. In his view, Fedorov should have been given about a year to implement the reforms he had begun, and only then should the results of his work be evaluated.

Rallies in support of Fedorov began on July 16 in Kyiv and a number of other Ukrainian cities after he was not reappointed as head of the Ministry of Defense during the formation of the new government. Participants in previous rallies carried cardboard signs and demanded that the official be reinstated to the ministry.

Security measures have been stepped up at the protest sites, where a significant number of National Police officers are on duty to maintain public order.

Marches and protests are also taking place in other cities – including Kharkiv, Odessa, Lviv, and Dnipro.

As a reminder, the organizer of the rallies, veteran Dmytro Koziatynskyi, previously announced a large protest march calling for dialogue and reforms on July 31. In Kyiv, it will begin near the Shevchenko monument and end at Ivan Franko Square; other cities across Ukraine are also planning their own gatherings.
