Over the past six months, more than 300 gas stations have been destroyed or damaged as a result of Russian shelling. This has caused significant damage to the country's economy.

This was stated by Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, according to RBC-Ukraine.

According to the official, gas stations are now de facto critical infrastructure facilities, as they supply fuel to the market and the population. Due to constant attacks, the government is engaged in a weekly coordinated dialogue with representatives of the gas station chains.

More than three hundred gas stations have been damaged or destroyed in the last six months alone. This, of course, represents a significant loss for our economy. The electric power sector has suffered very significant damage overall

Shmyhal emphasized that the Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the business community, is exploring options for introducing insurance and establishing a corresponding fund.

However, there are no plans to allocate a separate line item in the state budget for compensation related to the electric power sector

At the same time, it is noted that the resilience plans developed provide for the financing of critical infrastructure facilities regardless of their form of ownership.

As a reminder, as of the end of July, according to Financial Times estimates, Russian troops had destroyed more than 200 gas stations in Ukraine’s frontline regions. The intensified strikes on gas stations are seen as the aggressor country’s response to attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian oil refineries.
