On Youth Day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with participants in the Ukrainian Youth Forum. He stated that the government is preparing an action plan that places sufficient emphasis on increasing economic and social support for young people.

The president made this announcement during a speech at a youth forum attended by “Shelter.”

Our greatest wish today is that on this important day, year after year, we can always say that this is truly a day for millions of our people, millions of Ukrainian families, and millions of children who will be born, grow up, and build their entire lives in a peaceful Ukraine

Zelenskyy emphasized that this requires security—the procurement of weapons, missiles for air defense, funding for drones, and resilience. At the same time, the government must ensure a normal living environment for families, young people, and children.

Increased Scholarships and Dormitories

Starting September 1, scholarships will be increased: the minimum academic scholarship will be 4,000 hryvnias, the enhanced scholarship will be over 5,000, and for specialized fields, over 7,000. Funding has already been allocated.

The President has instructed officials to avoid raising dormitory fees and to ensure their renovation with the support of partners.

Changes to the National Multidisciplinary Test and “eOselya”

The Head of State has instructed the Ministry of Education to develop changes to the National Multidisciplinary Test—including technically equipped testing sites, a reduced test duration, and reasonable testing timeframes.

The “eOselya” program also needs to be expanded so that more young people can obtain their own housing.

Grants and Community Engagement

Zelenskyy announced the expansion of the youth grant program, including the expansion of the presidential program for small communities. He instructed officials to create more opportunities for youth to participate in community governance and post-shelling recovery efforts.

During the meeting, the President awarded participants the Orders “For Merit,” Bohdan Khmelnytsky (2nd Class), “For Courage,” and Princess Olga, as well as the “Golden Heart” and “Future of Ukraine” medals. Among those honored were soldiers, volunteers, emergency medical personnel, and youth activists.

It is worth noting that over the years of full-scale war, young Ukrainians have become one of the main driving forces behind the modernization of the defense sector. As The New York Times points out, this applies not only to the military but also to government agencies working to meet defense needs.
