The U.S. will supply Ukraine with Patriot missiles every month, but there still aren't enough of them, says Zelenskyy
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy Office of the President

The United States will supply Ukraine with interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense systems on a monthly basis.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the existence of relevant agreements with Washington during a joint press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade.

“Are there enough of these missiles? No.”

The head of state emphasized that the U.S. is a key manufacturer of anti-missile systems, so work with Washington on establishing an air defense zone is ongoing.

Who possesses anti-missile missiles and systems? First and foremost, they are manufactured by the United States of America. Can they help? We are working on it. Will they supply us with missiles every month? Yes. We have the relevant agreements

At the same time, the president emphasized that the quantities provided are still critically insufficient for the needs of the front lines and the defense of cities: “Are these missiles enough? No.” He noted that the number of these missiles has decreased significantly compared to 2025.

According to Zelenskyy, Germany and Poland can provide substantial assistance with anti-ballistic defense. The Netherlands and the Nordic countries are also providing support.

Context Regarding Asia, Israel, and Ukraine’s Own Freya System

Responding to a question about potential assistance from other regions, Zelenskyy noted that Japan and South Korea do not provide Ukraine with air defense systems due to restrictions in their own legislation.

Did they help us with air defense during the war? No. In accordance with their domestic laws, we did not receive any assistance

President of Ukraine

Regarding cooperation with Israel, the head of state noted that Ukraine would be ready to purchase the necessary systems, but this opportunity does not yet exist, although dialogue between the countries continues.

At the same time, Ukraine is developing its own anti-ballistic capabilities. The head of state mentioned the development of the Ukrainian Freya system, which is being worked on by FirePoint and a state-owned enterprise. Partners from Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, and Italy are involved in this project.

As a reminder, in 2026, deliveries of anti-ballistic missiles and air defense systems from allies decreased threefold compared to the same period last year.
