Protests against the dismissal of Mykhailo Fedorov as defense minister are continuing once again.
This was reported by the Fedorov Support Community and Serhiy Sternenko.
Protests are taking place in the squares of Kyiv, Sumy, Kremenchuk, Odesa, Dnipro, Rivne, Mykolaiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, and other cities.
Protesters are waiting for Tuesday, August 18, when the Verkhovna Rada’s recess ends and lawmakers resume their work. People hope that they will consider the appointment of a defense minister.
However, according to “Suspilne,” on August 18, the Verkhovna Rada will not consider the appointments of the defense and foreign affairs ministers. This is because President Zelenskyy has not yet submitted candidates for these positions.
MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak also reported that the Verkhovna Rada has no plans to consider any personnel matters on August 18. According to him, the agenda for the week has already been distributed. But this doesn’t mean anything yet: once a motion is submitted, this could change in five minutes by a decision of the Conciliation Council.
And, if you want my opinion, the Office of the President will act in “turbo mode”—they’ll submit the nominations quickly, so there’s no time to react. And they’ll put them to a vote immediately

As a reminder, activists in Kyiv took to the streets demanding that Fedorov be reinstated at the Ministry of Defense. This is the second march since the protests began on July 16. This time, it was organized on the eve of the resumption of the Verkhovna Rada’s plenary session.
