On Friday, August 21, the High Anti-Corruption Court will continue its consideration of a motion filed by a prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) to impose a preventive measure on former People’s Deputy Maksym Mykytas.
At Thursday's hearing, the court heard the prosecutor's arguments. Afterward, the judge announced that the defense would be given the floor the following day.
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) is requesting that Mykytas be remanded in custody with an alternative bail of 200 million hryvnias.
The case is related to the “Forrest Gump” operation conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the SAPO. According to the investigation, the participants in the scheme attempted to seize real estate and other assets through illegal interference in the operations of the Ministry of Justice’s information networks.
As a reminder, among those implicated in the “Forest Gump” and “Themis” cases, the SAPO prosecutor specifically named former Deputy Head of the Office of the President Iryna Mudra, former MP Maksym Mykytas, and MP Vadym Stolar.
Investigators also believe that this group was involved in laundering funds to post bail for former Minister of Energy and Justice Herman Halushchenko. According to law enforcement officials, the state-owned “SENS Bank” was used for this purpose.
