On the night of August 8, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a large-scale attack on the Syzran Oil Refinery, which is part of Rosneft’s oil complex. Drones struck not just a single target, but the facility’s entire production chain-from basic oil refining to secondary refining units and the production of high-octane fuel components.
This was reported by Exilenova+ and World.militares.
Specifically, during the attack, drones struck:
- the AVT-5 and AVT-6 primary refining and atmospheric-vacuum distillation units;
- Unit II of the 43-102 catalytic cracking unit;
- the PGI-DIG/280 facility for the production of a high-octane component of automotive gasoline;
- the KAS process unit for the processing and stabilization of hydrocarbon streams;
- the L-35/11-600 catalytic reforming unit for gasoline fractions.
It was also reported that after the drone strike, a smokestack fell onto the L-35/11-600 unit, causing significant damage. According to preliminary data, this facility has been taken out of service for an indefinite period.
Analysts note that this is already the second such large-scale attack on an oil refinery this month.
