In Georgia, a court released on bail a man who assaulted a Russian woman

Judge Tamar Kapanadze set bail for Giorgi Chigladze at 5,000 lari (about $1,900). He was released in the courtroom.

According to his attorney, the Agarani Hotel, where the incident took place, is prepared to pay the bail.

The conflict occurred during a Georgian wedding. The Russian tourists provoked the wedding guests, demanded silence, and poured water on the sound equipment. Initially, on social media, the tourists explained the incident as a conflict “over the Russian language.”

Chigladze stated that he regrets the incident and did not intend for things to escalate to this point. Under Georgian law, he faces up to three years in prison.
