Dmytro M., an 18-year-old Ukrainian citizen who attacked a woman with a knife in Wrocław on August 1, has been charged with attempted murder.

This was reported by the Wrocław Prosecutor's Office.

The attack took place on the evening of Saturday, August 1, in the Muchobór district. A young man stabbed a woman several times on a staircase, including in the neck and chest. He was quickly apprehended. The victim was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition. She was discharged on Monday.

Jakub Dłubacz, a spokesperson for the Wrocław Prosecutor’s Office, stated that the suspect did not admit guilt and refused to testify. According to him, the woman did not know the attacker.

The prosecutor’s office filed a motion with the court to remand Dmytro M. in custody for three months. Under Polish law, the suspect faces up to 10 years in prison or life imprisonment.

The Consulate General of Ukraine in Wrocław stated that it was saddened to learn of the incident and strongly condemned all acts of violence and aggression.

As a reminder, in the Polish city of Gdynia, law enforcement officers detained a 76-year-old man suspected of assaulting a 40-year-old Ukrainian woman. According to the investigation, he struck the woman twice on the back of the head with a wooden cane and fled the scene.
