On the night of August 9, a series of powerful explosions rocked Belgorod during a massive attack by Ukrainian drones. Russian air defense forces shot down the drones over residential buildings, after which fires broke out in various parts of the city.
This has been reported by Telegram channels. The consequences of the attack were also confirmed by Alexander Shuvaev, acting governor of the Belgorod Region.
According to him, 13 people were injured in the attack, including two children. A four-year-old boy with shrapnel wounds to the chest was taken to the regional children’s clinical hospital. Another 9-year-old boy and three adults were examined by medical personnel at the scene. Eight of the injured are being transported to hospitals in Belgorod.
Additionally, two cars caught fire in a parking lot near an apartment building, and a private home also caught fire in the city. According to preliminary data from Russian authorities, more than four apartment buildings, an administrative building, as well as social and commercial facilities were damaged.
Shuvaev attributed the incident to “strikes” and stated that medical assistance is being provided to the victims.
Using footage from eyewitnesses, an OSINT analyst at ASTRA identified the locations of three damaged apartment buildings. Between these buildings, a few blocks away from each of them, is the headquarters of the Russian FSB for the Belgorod Region.
