Morning attack on Kharkiv: the number of casualties has exceeded 30, including a child

The number of people injured as a result of the Russian strike on a residential high-rise building in the Saltivsky District of Kharkiv on the morning of August 9 has risen to 37. A large-scale search-and-rescue operation is continuing at the site of the strike.
This was reported by Oleg Synyegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
Two men, aged 50 and 66, were killed as a result of enemy shelling.
The number of people who sustained injuries and wounds of varying severity has risen to 23. Among the victims is a 5-year-old boy. According to medical officials, the nature of the injuries is as follows:
- Blast injuries: 11 people were injured;
- Carbon monoxide poisoning: reported in two people;
- Acute stress reaction: diagnosed in 8 residents (including the injured child).
Currently, five people are in hospitals under medical supervision, including one woman who is in serious condition. The other victims received medical assistance at the scene.
Updated at 11:33 a.m. The number of victims has risen to 27, Sinyegubov reported. Two more people sought medical help for lacerations, and two others for acute stress reactions.
Updated 1:56 p.m. The State Emergency Service and the mayor of Kharkiv reported that one person died as a result of the morning strike. Information about the death of a second person has not been confirmed. The number of injured has increased to 37 people.
Floors 7 through 10 of the building were completely destroyed by the strike. The main task for rescue workers at this time is to clear away the collapsed concrete blocks and floor slabs to ensure that no one remains trapped beneath them.
Once search operations are complete, specialists from relevant agencies will conduct an assessment to determine the extent of damage to the building, its structural integrity, and whether the residential building can remain in use.
As a reminder, on the morning of August 9, Russian forces carried out targeted drone strikes on residential high-rises, as well as a park in the Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv. Local authorities reported two fatalities and a large number of casualties.
