On the morning of Sunday, August 9, Russian forces carried out targeted drone strikes on residential high-rises in the Saltivsky District of Kharkiv. Two people were killed in the attack, and 13 others were injured, with injuries ranging in severity.

This was reported by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleg Synyegubov.

According to officials, the first enemy drone struck a 10-story residential building around 7:00 a.m. The explosion destroyed the structure from the 7th to the 10th floors. Shortly thereafter, the enemy launched a second strike, hitting a neighboring high-rise building.

As a result of the damage, residents were trapped inside the building. Units of the State Emergency Service launched a rescue operation to free the people.

As of now, two deaths have been confirmed at the scene. The number of injured has risen to 12. One person with severe injuries was rushed to a medical facility.

Updated 8:20 a.m. The enemy also hit one of the parks in the Saltivskyi district, and the number of casualties has increased to 13.

Updated 1:56 p.m. The State Emergency Service and the mayor of Kharkiv reported that one person died as a result of the morning strike. Information about the death of a second person has not been confirmed.

All emergency and municipal services continue to work at the strike sites in an intensified mode, despite the constant threat of further attacks.

As a reminder, on the night of August 9, Russian forces launched an attack on Odesa. At least six people were injured. Damage to residential areas and fires have been reported in several districts of the city.
