Rocket fuel plant, rail logistics, and an oil refinery shutdown behind Russian lines: details of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ latest strikes

Strikes on a defense plant in Russia and facilities in the occupied territories

During a nighttime attack on August 16, Ukrainian forces struck the “Kamensky Combine,” a military-industrial complex, in the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Rostov Oblast, Russia. A fire was reported on the facility’s grounds; the extent of the damage is currently being assessed. The facility specializes in the production of solid rocket propellant for “Uragan,” “Smerch,” and “Tornado-S” multiple launch rocket systems, as well as missile systems and aviation weapons.

In addition, the Defense Forces struck a number of enemy targets in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine:

• Crimea: a strike was carried out on an area where an enemy missile unit was concentrated in the village of Rezervne;
• Zaporizhzhia Region: a railway bridge near Svitlodolynske, which the occupiers use to transport personnel and military logistics, was struck;
• Donetsk region: enemy warehouses containing supplies and ammunition were destroyed in Karlivka.

Confirmation of the effects of previous strikes deep behind enemy lines in Russia

Based on an analysis of additional data, the General Staff confirmed the successful neutralization of major industrial facilities in Russia following previous attacks:

• Zapsibneftekhim LLC (Tobolsk, Tyumen Oblast): Following the strike on August 10 against Central Gas Fractionation Unit No. 1, the facility completely ceased operations. This is one of the largest petrochemical complexes in the Russian Federation, which supplies the Russian military-industrial complex;
• Orsknefteorgsintez PJSC (Orsk, Orenburg Oblast): It has been confirmed that on August 11, the hydrocracking unit, the ELOU-AVT-3 and ELOU-AVT-6, ELOU-AT, and the 22-4M5 secondary distillation unit for light petroleum fractions were confirmed to have been hit on August 11. The plant produces gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel for the needs of the Russian Federation’s armed forces.

As a reminder, on the night of August 15, Ukrainian forces launched a series of long-range strikes against strategic targets on the territory of the Russian Federation. In particular, one of the key enterprises within Roscosmos – the Progress Center in the Samara Region – was hit.

In addition, on August 14 and during the night of August 15, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out strikes against a number of important military targets of the Russian occupiers in the Luhansk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
