Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko announced his resignation. He explained his decision by saying he did not want the office of attorney general to be used in political disputes.

Kravchenko announced this on his Telegram channel.

He thanked the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada for their trust and asked them to accept his resignation.

This is a political decision. And I made it consciously. I do not want the office of Prosecutor General to be used as a tool for political confrontation. My position regarding the allegations remains unchanged

As a reminder, earlier, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) conducted a special operation at the Office of the Prosecutor General and detained one of its officials in connection with a case involving the alleged “protection” of fraudulent call centers and the legalization of assets. On September 5, anti-corruption agencies announced that they had uncovered a criminal group among employees of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Kravchenko denied any involvement in “covering up” for the call centers and announced personnel changes within the Office of the Prosecutor General. Specifically, one of the individuals implicated was suspended, and polygraph tests were introduced for employees investigating the call center cases.

On September 7, before announcing his resignation, Kravchenko met with Zelenskyy and Arakhamia. The day before, he had stated that he did not plan to step down on his own, but was prepared to do so if the president asked him to or if the Verkhovna Rada passed such a resolution.
