The death toll from the strike and explosion in the Kyiv region has risen to 38; four people are still missing

This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Casualties and Injuries

According to the latest reports, 38 people were killed as a result of the attack and explosions.

Twenty people were injured, including two children. Four are considered missing. The search for them is ongoing, Zelenskyy noted.

State Emergency Service units are working around the clock at the scene of the tragedy. Firefighters have already managed to extinguish most of the fires that broke out after the strike and a series of explosions.

In addition to rescue workers, bomb disposal teams have been brought in, as the area is heavily contaminated with explosive ordnance. Specialists are identifying and neutralizing dangerous remnants of ammunition.

Zelenskyy added that this work will continue “as long as necessary” to ensure the area is completely safe.

As a reminder, on August 28, 37 people were killed as a result of an enemy drone strike and subsequent detonation at a facility in the village of Mila, Bucha District, including Taras Didych, the head of the Dmytrivka community, who had gone to the scene to help people. More than 40 others were injured.

August 30 was declared a Day of Mourning in the Kyiv region.

Zelenskyy stated that the first strike during the Russian attack on the village of Mila hit a Defense Forces ammunition storage facility that should not have been there.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has opened a criminal investigation into the Russian strike on the depots in the village of Mila and the subsequent detonation of ammunition. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, one of which is negligence.
