President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that many geopolitical issues are currently being decided in Donbas, and that the region itself is the central issue in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
He made these remarks during a press conference in Kyiv, according to a “Shelter” correspondent.

The president noted that Donbas remains the main target of the aggressor country, Russia, and serves as Ukraine’s strategic outpost.
Zelenskyy also emphasized the direct link between the situation on the front lines and the prospects for the negotiation process.
If we weaken on the battlefield and in the east, where the enemy is active and has increased its troop strength... after the elections in Russia, there will be a mobilization exclusively for this front. Many geopolitical issues are being decided there. And, in fact, this creates an opportunity for diplomacy. Without a strong position on the battlefield—a strong Ukrainian position—there will only be ultimatums
