The organizer of the exhibition in Kapitanivka was taken into custody without the right to post bail

Prosecutors insisted on his arrest, citing the risk that Goncharuk might flee from the investigation or influence witnesses. The defense disagreed with the prosecution’s arguments and objected to keeping the suspect in custody.

Goncharuk was notified that he is suspected of official negligence resulting in loss of life and other serious consequences. His actions were classified under Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Law enforcement officials are conducting a separate investigation into the Russian missile strike itself as a violation of the laws and customs of war. The investigation is also examining the actions of representatives of law enforcement agencies, military command, state authorities, and local government who may have been aware of the event’s preparations.

As a reminder, on Friday, July 24, Russian troops carried out a targeted strike on the site where the arms exhibition was taking place.

It has been reported that eleven people were killed as a result of the Russian attack-one of the wounded later died in the hospital. About 100 more people were injured. The explosions also damaged residential buildings, hotels, a restaurant, and dozens of cars.
