Gregory Slayton, a former U.S. Ambassador-at-Large, diplomat, and entrepreneur, stated during the “35 Years of Faith and Freedom” forum that Ukraine’s future depends on overcoming corruption. In his view, Ukrainians must personally reject the practice of bribery, as this will form the foundation for building a just and prosperous state.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Germany has provided Ukraine with more than 65 billion euros in aid and remains one of Kyiv’s key partners in the areas of security, defense production, and future reconstruction.

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court considered an appeal filed by the defense team of Olga Stefanishyna, the former deputy prime minister and former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States. Her attorneys challenged the pretrial condition in the form of a 6 million hryvnia bail.

On Wednesday, August 19, another protest rally in support of Mykhailo Fedorov took place in Mariinsky Park near the Verkhovna Rada. The protesters are demanding that he be reinstated as Ukraine’s Minister of Defense so that he can continue the reforms he has initiated.

A march in support of Mykhailo Fedorov began in Kyiv at the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People. Participants are chanting his name and demanding that Fedorov be reinstated as defense minister.

The ashes of Yevhen Konovalets, a colonel in the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, commander of the Sich Riflemen, and first chairman of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, were brought to the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Kyiv. Currently, the coffin containing Konovalets’ remains is in the cathedral.

On August 8, Kyiv bid farewell to Oleksiy Yukov, the head of the “Platsdarm” search team, who had spent many years searching for and repatriating the remains of those killed during the war.

On August 7, a funeral was held in Kyiv for Polish volunteer Marek Rusek-Wolski, who was killed in Kharkiv as a result of a Russian drone attack.

Four years after the explosion in a barracks at the Olenivska Colony, 46 wounded Ukrainian soldiers remain in Russian captivity. Some of them require long-term medical treatment. Their families receive information about their condition mainly from released prisoners.

The Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv remanded Vasyl Honcharuk-head of the Armada association and organizer of the arms exhibition in Kapitanivka, which was targeted by a Russian missile strike on July 24-into custody. The court granted the prosecutor’s office’s motion and ordered the suspect to be held in custody for 60 days without the right to post bail.
