A march in support of Mykhailo Fedorov began in Kyiv at the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People. Participants are chanting his name and demanding that Fedorov be reinstated as defense minister.
Activists plan to march to Ivan Franko Square, where protests have been taking place over the past month.
This is the second march since the protests began on July 16. This time, it was organized on the eve of the resumption of the Verkhovna Rada’s plenary session, during which, among other things, the appointment of a defense minister may be considered.
Earlier, veteran Dmytro Koziatynskyi told “Shelter” that the protests would continue as long as the momentum for protest remained or until the authorities met the protesters’ demands.
One of the protesters’ demands has already been met—Oleksandr Syrskyi has been dismissed from his post. At the same time, the second key demand remains relevant: the protesters insist on Mykhailo Fedorov’s reinstatement as Minister of Defense.
As a reminder, August 14 marked the 30th day of rallies against the dismissal of Mykhailo Fedorov from his post as Minister of Defense. For exactly one month, protesters have been taking to the streets with “cardboard signs” in Kyiv, Rivne, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Lviv, and other cities.
