During its broadcast of the eclipse, NASA showed Crimea as part of Russia

"European Truth" drew attention to this. Relevant footage from the broadcast shows that the boundary between Crimea and the rest of Ukraine was marked on the map as a state border.

A total solar eclipse on August 12 was visible to residents of parts of Europe. NASA broadcast the astronomical event live.

This is not the first time that international media outlets or organizations have used maps with incorrect labeling of Crimea. In September 2024, the British television channel Sky News, in a report on circumventing sanctions on the supply of goods to Russia, also showed maps on which the peninsula was marked as part of Russia.

In November 2025, a Polish TV channel showed a map of Ukraine without Crimea during the entertainment show *The Floor*. At that time, the peninsula was highlighted in a different color than the rest of the country.

In June, NASA announced the crew for the Artemis III mission. Initially, the mission was supposed to involve a lunar landing, but the agency changed the mission concept: the crew will now operate in low Earth orbit and practice docking with prototypes of lunar landers.
