Temporarily occupied territories

On September 2 and during the night of September 2–3, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of successful strikes against a number of key Russian military targets in the temporarily occupied territories. 

During the first half of 2026, 284 criminal cases involving charges of espionage and treason were heard in Russia. One in every thirteen cases was opened in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.

Russian recruiters in occupied Donetsk are reportedly seeking out men in bars and on the streets and taking them to military enlistment offices, where they are coerced into signing contracts with the Russian Armed Forces.

In the Russian-occupied territories of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions, widespread power outages occurred on the night of August 27 following a drone attack. Power began to be restored around 4 a.m.

On the afternoon of August 26, a series of powerful explosions rocked occupied Donetsk. According to preliminary reports, one of the city’s districts was hit by a series of rocket strikes.

On August 25 and during the night of August 26, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of targets belonging to the Russian invaders.

On August 24 and during the night of August 25, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched strikes against a number of Russian military targets. Among the targets hit were electronic warfare systems, a satellite communications station, fuel, lubricant, and ammunition depots, as well as a Russian fighter jet.

On the night of August 13, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of strikes against enemy military targets on enemy territory and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. In particular, the “Nebo-U” radar station in Sevastopol was struck.

On August 12, during its live broadcast of the total solar eclipse, NASA used a map on which the occupied Crimea was marked as part of Russia.

On the night of August 12, the occupying forces reported a massive drone attack on Sevastopol. Russian air defenses allegedly shot down more than 30 drones.
