The Main Intelligence Directorate identified the Russian unit that attacked the ATB supermarket in Chernihiv

On July 26, Russian occupiers struck an ATB supermarket in Chernihiv. The war crime was committed by servicemen from Combat Group No. 3 of the “GROM ‘Kaskad’” Separate Unmanned Aviation Brigade.
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate.
The strike by a “Geran-4” jet-powered drone occurred at 4:12 p.m. Two people were killed in the attack, including a 10-year-old child. Another 25 civilians were injured, including three children.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the drone was launched from a drone port in the village of Navlya in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation. The drone was equipped with a video camera.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), the commander of Combat Group No. 3 is A. O. Sergunin. The identification of the direct perpetrators of the attack and others involved in the war crime is ongoing.
The separate unmanned aviation brigade “GROM ‘Kaskad’” is part of the Russian Federation’s Aerospace Forces and specializes in attacks using long-range drones, particularly against Ukrainian civilian targets.
The Main Intelligence Directorate also stated that this unit has a reputation as a unit for members of the Russian “elite” – officials, lawmakers, bureaucrats, and other government representatives. According to intelligence reports, they can sign short-term contracts and receive combatant status without being directly on the front lines.
As a reminder, on July 26, a Russian drone struck the ATB supermarket building in Chernihiv. Two people, including a child, were killed in the attack, and another 20 were injured.
