On the night of August 7–8, Russian occupation forces launched a combined strike against Ukraine, using six ballistic and anti-aircraft guided missiles, as well as 151 drones. Ukrainian air defense units managed to shoot down and neutralize 135 enemy UAVs, but were unable to intercept any of the six missiles fired.

This is stated in an official report from the Ukrainian Air Force Command.

According to military sources, the attack began at 6:00 p.m. on August 7. The enemy launched six missiles from the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation—Iskander-M ballistic missiles and S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles. In addition, 151 strike and simulation UAVs of the Shahed type were launched from several directions (Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk Oblast and Crimea), 151 strike and decoy UAVs of the Shahed, “Gerbera,” “Italmas,” and “Parody” types were launched.

The effectiveness of the defense against the attack was as follows:

  • Ballistic and anti-aircraft missiles: 0 shot down (hits were recorded; several missiles also failed to reach their targets);
  • Drones: 135 were shot down or neutralized by electronic warfare systems in the northern, southern, and eastern regions.

Since the enemy’s missile arsenal could not be neutralized in the air and some drones broke through the defenses, missile strikes and 13 strike UAVs were recorded at 12 locations. Debris from downed drones fell at seven additional locations.

As previously reported, the most severe consequences of this combined attack were recorded in the village of Pukhivka in the Brovary District of Kyiv Oblast. The strike caused a massive fire in a two-story private residential building. Three people were killed, including a child born in 2022. Three more civilians were injured.

As a reminder, in 2026, deliveries of anti-ballistic missiles and air defense systems from allies decreased threefold compared to the same period last year.
