Russia launched a drone and ballistic missile strike on Kyiv: one person was killed and 12 were injured

This was reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The State Emergency Service clarified that on the night of August 5, Kyiv came under a massive drone and ballistic missile attack.

Obolon District: One person died and three others were injured as a result of a fire in a non-residential building.

Holosiivskyi District: Fires at two locations in single-story non-residential buildings have been extinguished. Four people were injured, and two of them were hospitalized. A minor ammonia leak occurred on the premises of an industrial facility; emergency responders shut off the valves, and there is no threat to the public.

Desnianskyi District: Fires broke out in two non-residential buildings.

The State Emergency Service noted that rescue workers and other emergency services continue to work at the sites of the strikes.

An air raid alert was declared in Kyiv at 12:20 a.m. due to the threat of ballistic weapons. Air defense forces were deployed in the capital during the attack.

The Obolon district was hit several times. Non-residential buildings, an office building, and warehouse facilities at two addresses were damaged. There were also reports of a fire in a 20-story residential building, but Klitschko and the Kyiv City Military Administration later clarified that this information had not been confirmed.

The Svyatoshyn district was affected by a fire in a warehouse. Medical personnel and rescue workers were dispatched to the scene.

The Desnianskyi district was also hit. A warehouse caught fire there, and rocket debris fell near a residential building.

The Holosiivskyi district suffered damage at several locations simultaneously. A warehouse was destroyed, and people may have been trapped under the rubble. Rescue workers extracted two victims, and the search for people under the rubble continued. A private residential building was also destroyed, and an ammonia leak was reported after a strike on a non-residential building.

The Kyiv-Sviatoshyn district, located in the suburbs of the capital, was also affected by the attack. A large fire broke out there in non-residential buildings.

While emergency services were responding at one of the sites, an ambulance was damaged by repeated explosions, and the driver sustained injuries.

According to the Kyiv City State Administration, as of 2:10 a.m., the effects of the attack had been reported at more than seven locations in the Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, Desnianskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts of Kyiv. Residential infrastructure was damaged, and fires in warehouse facilities spread over significant areas.

As a reminder, on the night of August 1, Russia also launched a massive ballistic strike on Kyiv. Nine people were killed and 33 others were injured, including four children. Damage of varying degrees was reported in several districts of the capital, and ambulances were also damaged.
