On the night of August 20, drones attacked the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Russia, and the “Tamanneftegaz” oil terminal in Volna, Krasnodar Krai, Russia.

At least six people were killed and another 33 were injured as a result of a massive Russian attack on Kyiv.

On the night of August 20, Russia attacked Kyiv with missiles and drones. Strikes, falling debris, and fires were reported in several districts of the capital; residential buildings and a children’s hospital were damaged.

In the Kyiv region, one man was killed and eight others were injured as a result of a Russian attack. An industrial facility was also damaged, and a fire broke out there.

Two police officers were killed and more than 40 others were injured as a result of a Russian strike on the National Police Headquarters building in Zhytomyr Oblast. Emergency rescue operations are ongoing at the scene.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined the key tasks for the new defense minister in the war against Russia.

During a regular meeting between Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets and Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova, the two discussed the return of prisoners of war and civilians, humanitarian evacuations, the exchange of letters, and the monitoring of detention conditions.

On Wednesday, August 19, Russian troops launched an attack on Zhytomyr using “Banderol” rocket-powered drones.

Ukraine has repatriated another 103 defenders from Russian captivity. Among those released are servicemembers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the Territorial Defense Forces and the Navy, as well as the National Guard and the State Border Guard Service.

On the morning of August 19, drones struck the Russian region of Bashkortostan. The attack damaged a production facility at an oil refinery.
