Massive strike on the Odesa region: the enemy fired various types of missiles – none of them were shot down

This is stated in a report by the Ukrainian Air Force, as well as in a summary by Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

To shell the Odesa region from the territory of occupied Crimea and the Black Sea, the Russians used “Iskander-M/S-400,” “Onyx,” and Kh-31P missiles. At the same time, 202 attack and reconnaissance UAVs (Shahed, “Gerbera,” “Parody”) were launched over Ukrainian territory, along with “Banderole” loitering munitions.

Air defense forces shot down and neutralized 174 enemy drones and 5 “Banderol” munitions. However, none of the enemy missiles were shot down. The Air Force specified that missile and UAV strikes were recorded at 22 locations, with debris falling at six additional locations. At the same time, several missiles failed to reach their targets due to countermeasures by electronic warfare units.

As a result of the massive attack on the region, at least eight people were injured. Doctors assess the condition of seven of them as moderate; most of the victims suffered shrapnel wounds.

In two districts of Odesa, several residential buildings, infrastructure facilities, and private vehicles were damaged or partially destroyed.

As a reminder, in 2026, deliveries of anti-ballistic missiles and air defense systems from allies decreased threefold compared to the same period last year.

On August 8, during a joint press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the U.S. would supply Ukraine with interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense systems on a monthly basis, but even this would not be enough.

Meanwhile, Russia continues to carry out massive missile and drone attacks on Ukraine. On the night of August 8, the enemy attacked the Kyiv region. A 3-year-old boy, his grandmother, and his grandfather were killed when five Russian drones struck a private home in the village of Pukhivka in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region. During this attack, none of the six missiles fired by the enemy were shot down.
